Darrell started as a general carpenter with Mark Griffith before taking the step into business for himself. In 2002, he became a sole trader and gained his full builders licence in 2003.
Darrell and Melanie continued to grow the business, becoming D & M Bowden Construction Pty Ltd in 2007. From those early beginnings, Darrell and Melanie built a team and established a reputation for quality, craftsmanship and personalised service.
“We pride ourselves on being Boutique Custom home specialists, focusing on solar passive design, quality and service.”
That commitment has been recognised through several HIA housing awards, including Custom Home of the Year in 2013 for North East Victoria, as well as numerous franchise awards since joining David Reid Homes in 2015.
Today, the business delivers boutique custom homes alongside renovations, extensions and commercial projects, with a portfolio that extends well beyond residential construction. Major projects have included renovations at the Birdsville Hotel in Queensland, the rebuild of the Barooga Hotel and the Tocumwal “Palms” Hotel, as well as homestead renovations at Nangunia Station and Barooga Station.
For Darrell and Melanie however, the journey has always been about more than the projects themselves.
“We have had 15 apprentices over the years and we enjoy giving back to our local community who have given so much to us as a business just starting out to a business that is now 25 years strong and still going.”
Through changing economic conditions, tough times and COVID, D & M Bowden Construction has continued to stand strong.
“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last 25 years.”
Today, that support remains at the heart of a business still proudly building across the region. Get in touch with the team today on 0407 129 027 or by visiting 16 Broadway Court, Cobram.
