There were 299 injury claims in Greater Shepparton accepted by WorkSafe in that period.
The healthcare and social assistance industry had the most injury claims, with 58.
The next highest industry with the most injury claims was the manufacturing industry, with 46, while the agriculture, forestry and fishing industry was third, with 28.
According to WorkSafe figures, body stressing was the most common cause of injury, with 105 claims.
This was followed by falls, trips and slips of a person, with 77.
Being hit by moving objects was the third most common cause of injury, with 55 claims in the last financial year.
WorkSafe inspectors conducted 746 visits to workplaces in Greater Shepparton in the 2025-26 financial year, and issued 263 compliance notices.
In the same period, data in the Goulburn area – which includes Greater Shepparton, Mitchell, Moira, Strathbogie and Murrindindi local government areas – showed there were 669 claims accepted by WorkSafe.
These included 60 mental injury claims.
Health care and social assistance was the industry with the most claims in the Goulburn area, with 151 claims.
Like in Greater Shepparton, the manufacturing industry was also the second highest for claims, with 118.
The most common causes of injury in the Goulburn area were the same as in Greater Shepparton, with body stressing topping the list, with 235 claims, followed by falls, trips and slips of a person, with 168, and being hit by moving objects, with 140.
WorkSafe inspectors conducted 1779 visits to workplaces in the Goulburn area, and issued 614 compliance notices.
WorkSafe is going to Shepparton to share expert advice on workplace health and safety and supporting injured workers with a free event on Friday, October 16, as part of WorkSafe’s annual Health and Safety Month roadshow across Victoria.
Held at the GV Hotel, a complimentary breakfast will be followed by a session with inspectors discussing current health and safety issues, local data trends and the resources and support available from WorkSafe.
Other topics will include an in-depth discussion designed to build confidence and capability in meeting return-to-work obligations, as well as insights from WorkSafe’s strategic approach to regulating the healthcare and social assistance industry.
WorkSafe chief health and safety officer Sam Jenkin said the presentations would focus on local health and safety issues, while also highlighting WorkSafe’s role in the community.
“These sessions are designed to give local employers and workers the information and tools to make a real difference to health and safety in their workplaces,” Mr Jenkin said.
“This is a great opportunity for local businesses to network with each other and get expert advice from WorkSafe on reducing workplace harm and improving outcomes for injured workers.”
The GV Hotel will also host the Shepparton GV Safety Group annual awards breakfast on Friday, October 16, from 6.30am to 9am, which will be followed by the WorkSafe session from 9.30am to 1pm.
