The keen group of walkers took on the challenges of Mt Meg under the capable leadership of Marion McLennan and Gary McDonald.
“It had been a while since the club had made the short journey from Benalla for this 8km walk, where the only tracks to follow are animal pads,” Ms McLennan said.
“Despite overnight rain, we had near perfect conditions for walking.
“There was a slight cooling breeze, cloudy with a dash of sunshine, especially during lunchtime on the rocky outcrop overlooking Thoona.
“We made our way along the Ridgeline to the highest point of the park, a fact confirmed by several walkers who carried electronic devices.
The Benalla Bushwalkers had a great time on a recent visit to Mt Meg.
“To complete the return walk, we made our way down to the private property fence line and followed it back to the cars, where it was time for a welcome afternoon tea.”
This walk was a first for several of the group.
“Even those who hadn’t walked it recently thoroughly enjoyed it, despite its challenging ups and downs, rocky sections,” Ms McLennan said.
This is another great walk in a little-known, picturesque park on Benalla’s doorstep.
The Benalla Bushwalkers thanked Ms McLennan and Mr McDonald for doing their homework and negotiating a safe route up and down Mt Meg.
