The event will begin at 5.30pm with an acknowledgment of Country, followed by Aunty Cheryl Cooper unveiling her newest piece of textile artwork.
After the unveiling, there will be a discussion with two members of the newly formed Gellung Warl.
Isobel Morphy-Walsh, the reserved seat holder for Taungurung Land and Waters Council, and Levi Power, general member for the north-east region, will be sharing their stories and speak about Treaty as a pathway towards reconciliation.
Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said the event at Benalla Library is an important opportunity for the community to come together to get a better understanding of reconciliation and Treaty.
“National Reconciliation Week reminds us that understanding grows when we listen to one another,” Cr Hearn said.
“Events like this help us build better understanding and stronger relationships, working together towards a more inclusive future for everyone in Benalla Rural City.”

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, ‘All In’, encourages everyone to get involved by promoting respect, understanding and positive change.

The talk will take place on Wednesday, May 27 from 5.30pm at the Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop Learning Centre (Benalla Library).
