Anne Maree Sloan is charged with obstructing an authorised officer in the execution of his duty under the Wildlife Act 1975, on September 18, 2019.
In court, prosecutor Anne-Marie Stephanides cited a need for transparency with the case involving a serving member of police charged with obstructing a criminal investigation.
The matter is being prosecuted by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
The matter was in court for a contest mention, and was adjourned until August 3.
It had previously been before the Benalla Magistrates' Court on March 23 when it was adjourned to Melbourne.
Her lawyer applied to change venues as his client had been a police officer at Benalla for 34 years, and had attended court previously in her role as a family violence liaison officer.
