From Wednesday, August 26, Benalla Police Station reception hours will change overnight, allowing more police members to be out on patrol across the Benalla Police Service Area.
Between 11pm and 7am, reception will be closed, allowing members who would traditionally be stationed inside to instead be on patrol in the community.
The change will double the frontline patrol presence overnight, providing:
- More police patrols across the Benalla Police Service Area overnight
- Greater visibility in the community
- Increased capacity to intercept suspicious vehicles and activity
- More opportunity to prevent thefts from vehicles, businesses and properties
- Patrols in places and areas where police may not have previously been expected
The focus is simple — put more police on the road when the community needs them most.
