At the same time the cost of living continues to rise and many Victorian families are suffering as a result.The state opposition has put forward a number of proposals to immediately assist Victoria’s economic recovery.
Council distribute drought funding
They are calling on the government to immediately:● Freeze all household water and sewerage charges until June 30, 2022;
● Half-price registration for all P-plate drivers until June 30, 2022;
● Freeze all metropolitan and V/Line public transport fares until June 30, 2022.
● Provide free public transport for school and university students until January 1, 2022;
● Freeze all local government rates until June 30, 2022 with funding support from the state government; and
● Freeze all toll road charges with Transurban and ConnectEast until June 30,2022.
Neighbours question Odyssey House expansion
Opposition Leader Michael O’Brien said by reducing the cost of living, Victorian families would have more money in their pockets, meaning they had more to spend with local businesses.“Labor has no plan to assist families under financial stress, so we are urging it to adopt the Liberal Nationals’ plan to get Victoria back to work,” Mr O’Brien said.Shadow Treasurer, Louise Staley echoed Mr O'Brien.“Time is not on our side and we must act urgently to help all Victorians get back to work,” Ms Staley said.“Victorians have been hit harder than any other state and the Liberal Nationals’ plan to get Victoria back to work will help repair the economic damage that’s been done by these lockdowns.”
