The stalls at My Shop and Deniliquin Florist were both so popular they had both sold out by just after lunch.
Each had a wonderful array of goodies to buy and an alfresco style seating area to stay a while and have a chat with friends.
Deniliquin Florist sold 100 cupcakes, 350 daffodils and the sausage sizzle also sold out.
It was a family run affair with florist owner Ange Wren assisted by her father Dave Wren while her mother Kerry helped tend to the constant throng of locals wanting to support the day.
One kind gentleman came out of the local hotel a few doors up and donated $100 wanting nothing in return.
The Pastoral Times’ own Rebecca Flisher won first prize in the raffle, receiving a stunning bouquet of flowers, and Sue Barling won the hot/cold drinking mug second prize.
“It was such a great day and I can’t wait to do it all again next year with even more items,” Ange said.
“It was fantastic to catch up with people and so wonderful for other businesses to support us.
“We even had a local Yvonne Llyod send out 90 text messages to make friends and family aware that our day was on, it was incredible.
“We raised more than $1000 to be donated to the Cancer Council and we are very proud of our community for that.”
At My Shop, Denise Phillips and Irene Davies were astounded at the outpouring of support from friends and the community.
“We raised $13,647 and still counting; donations are still coming in,” Mrs Phillips said.
“What an amazing day.
“Other than a couple of packets of biscuits we sold out of everything.”
Denise and Irene had wonderful support from friends who cooked beautiful home-made goodies, helped on the day and offered great support for a united cause.
“We are blessed to live in such a beautiful community, all working together to donate funds to aid in cancer research.”
