Now in its second year, the scholarship supports Cooinda staff who wish to further their education and careers in the care sector.
The cheque was presented by Cooinda Achievers’ Julie Folan and Helen Cross to Angus Howell, Diana’s husband and founder of the scholarship, in a small ceremony highlighting the importance of investing in the aged care workforce.
Established in honour of legendary Benalla nurse and Cooinda stalwart Diana Chomley, the scholarship assists Cooinda staff to overcome financial barriers and pursue further study, training and professional development in the care space.
Mr Howell said contributions like this were vital to its continued impact.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Cooinda Achievers,” he said.
“Their support helps ensure we can continue backing staff to grow their skills and provide even higher levels of care.”
Ms Folan said the donation reflected the Cooinda Achievers’ commitment to supporting both the community and the people who care for it.
“We’re proud to support a scholarship that creates opportunities for Cooinda staff,” Ms Folan said.
“Investing in the education and development of care staff ultimately strengthens the whole community.
“The donation will help fund future scholarships, continuing the legacy of empowering staff to advance their knowledge and make a meaningful difference in aged care.”
Cooinda Achievers is also encouraging new members to join the group and be part of its initiatives.
