Council is calling on community members that enjoy being active to put their hand up as a school crossing supervisor.
The supervisors play a highly valued role by helping students and families cross the road safely during peak school times.
Mayor Bernie Hearn said the role was one of the quiet strengths of the community and a great way of contributing to the wellbeing of Benalla’s young people.
“Every school day, our supervisors are out there making sure children feel safe and supported,” Cr Hearn said.
“It’s a simple job in many ways, but it has a big impact. Our supervisors become familiar faces for families, and they help build that sense of trust and connection that makes Benalla Rural City such a welcoming place.”
Working closely with council, supervisors are expected to maintain exceptional customer service and respond promptly to all inquiries.
“If you’re looking for a role that’s meaningful, social and fits well around other commitments, this could be a great opportunity,” she said.
For a confidential discussion about the role, please contact council compliance officer Michelle Dodemaide on 5760 2600.
Applications close Friday, May 29 at 5pm.
