Memories of a super place Fitz into a night
Old memories came flooding back at Hurley’s Bar and Bistro last weekend when the old team from Fitzgerald’s Supermarkets re-united.
The supermarket, which operated for 29 years, prided itself on being one of the only supermarkets in Australia where customers’ groceries were carried to the car by staff.
Former owner Ron Fitzgerald said he can’t set foot in the Kyabram Woolworths that has taken the place of his old supermarket.
“It was the baby of my wife and I. It’s too painful to go back in there because we remember what it used to be,” he said.

Former taxi owner’s dream drive
Kyabram’s Wayne Cunningham made a dream start to the second 18 holes of the 36 holes open championship last Sunday during Parkland Golf Club’s annual tournament.
The former taxi proprietor drove his tee shot onto the green ... and into the hole on the first hole.
The shot not only gave Wayne his first ace and a flying start to the afternoon’s round, but also won him two dozen golf balls courtesy of Rohan and Susy Bennett of Bennetts Sports Power, Kyabram.
They had offered the two dozen balls to any player who got an ace during the annual tournament.
