Now in its 14th year, the Cobram Barooga Veteran Golfers Charity Golf Day has thus far raised over $80,000 for NCN Health.
Held on Tuesday, October 7 at the West Course of Cobram Barooga Golf Club, the event involved men’s, ladies’ and mixed competitions, as well as a delicious, post-golf barbecue and raffles.
The golfing was kicked off with a putting challenge hosted by George McLaughlin, with Tony Wouters taking out the prize.
Graham Kerr and Jeff Lancaster brought it home, with 47 points, in the men’s, as did Jan Curran and Bev Willis, with 45 points, in the ladies’, and Helen Hall and Ray Bill, with 43 points, in the mixed competition.
While the golf enthusiasts enjoyed their day of swinging, the event was really all about supporting a local service.
“The 14th running of the Community Health Charity Golf Day was held on Tuesday in perfect weather conditions on the beautiful West Course of Cobram Barooga Golf Club,” Greg Boyer said.
“This year’s event was an outstanding success, attracting 100 golfers and raising approximately $5,500 for NCN Health and Cobram District Hospital.
“When combined with the funds raised through the Veteran Golfers’ raffles during the year, the total contribution to local health services will reach an impressive $7000.”
The day was made possible by a long list of local sponsors, including monetary donors, and those that donated raffle prizes.
On Friday, October 24, the cheque was officially handed over to NCN Health.
“This event continues to showcase the strength and generosity of our local community,” Mr Boyer said.
“The funds raised will directly benefit NCN Health and the Cobram District Hospital, while the camaraderie and spirit of the day remind us why this event remains a highlight on our calendar.
“A heartfelt thank you to all golfers, sponsors, and supporters who made this year’s event possible. We look forward to seeing you all again for the 15th Annual Community Health Charity Golf Day.”
