Benalla Bushwalking Club, in conjunction with Bushwalking Victoria, is offering two simple, open bush walks in September.
The first will visit Mt Samaria on Saturday, September 20.
Beginning at the car park, you will walk up the ridge track to the summit, which will take about an hour.
After morning tea, with a great view out over the Benalla plains, walkers will return via a steeper track, winding their way back to their cars, visiting the Samaria Tree on the way.
After a short drive to the old sawmill, walkers will sit and rest over lunch and a social chat.
To take part, give Brian a call on 0407 300 922
The second walk will visit Chiltern forest on Sunday, September 21.
From the old Homestead car park, walkers will follow a loop along Tuan Track.
This will be reasonably easy walking along gravel, four-wheel drive, tracks.
Walkers will pass grey box ironbark bushland, where there should be orchids and wildflowers to spot, plus lots of kangaroos.
There will be time for a morning tea break along the way. Lunch will be back in Chiltern.
Afterwards, there will be a short drive to the Mt Pilot lookout, with panoramic views to photograph.
To take part, call James on 0413 945 671.
No experience, club membership or ongoing obligation is required,
Just enthusiasm, as well as the necessary items for a bush walk, including sensible footwear and headwear, food for the day and water.
