Opening from Monday, October 19, the free interactive experience will offer a range of activities, from information about native plants to a ‘how to fix a leaky tap’ tutorial.
Located at 18-20 Fraser St, in the former Intersport store in Maude St Mall, The Blue House will feature hands-on activities, educational sessions and presentations for all ages until Saturday, October 24.
Visitors can learn how to detect water leaks, build wicking beds and create waterwise gardens, while discovering more about the GVW projects being delivered across the region.
On Saturday, the River Connect education team will host a water bugs activity, giving visitors an insight into the health of local waterways.
GVW managing director Danielle Roche said the Blue House encouraged people to think about the water they used and the role they could play in its conservation.
“We know that water is a precious resource and we all need to consider ways we can use it more sustainably in our homes and gardens – every action can make a difference,” she said.
“The Blue House inspires people in a fun and interactive way, with tips and tricks to save water every day.”
Building on the success of last year’s Water Week event, the initiative brings the water-saving conversation indoors, taking visitors through different areas of the home to explore simple changes they can make in their everyday lives.
GVW staff will also be on hand throughout the week to answer questions about water efficiency, programs and services, and help customers with water and billing inquiries.
The Blue House will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm from Monday to Friday, and from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Saturday.
