Local contractor, Landmark Construction Group Pty Ltd, will build the new Benalla Visitor Information Centre and Museum, after winning the tender for the project.
Benalla Rural City Mayor Bernie Hearn, said after a competitive process, council had appointed Landmark to undertake this major project.
“I’m excited to announce that after a thorough evaluation, a local supplier has been selected,” Cr Hearn said.
“Landmark Construction Group Pty Ltd have a great reputation in our region, together with the experience and skills to undertake the project.
“This is a win for the whole community with the appointment of a local contractor, which will ensure the flow-on effect of the project will have the greatest benefit to our local community.”
Once completed, the redeveloped Visitor Information Centre and Museum will have a positive impact on local tourism and economic development by providing a contemporary visitor servicing space, destination museum, modern café and cinema, all in a premium location on the foreshore of Lake Benalla.
Construction on the project is scheduled to start mid-May with work anticipated to be completed in the next nine months.
