Local sports clubs funded for future success

Riding for the Disabled Seymour is one of several local sporting clubs to receive Victorian Government funding.

The Victorian Government is supporting local sporting clubs to stay on top of their game with new equipment, volunteer training and events.

Seven grassroots sport organisations in northern Victoria are set to bolster their volunteer skills, score uniforms and equipment or deliver a new sport program.

State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced the successful applicants of the latest round of the government’s Sporting Club Grants Program.

“The Sporting Club Grants Program is giving grassroots sports clubs in northern Victoria the support they need to grow their ranks and help more people play the sports they love,” Ms Symes said.

The successful applicants were:

Seymour Golf Club Inc
Riding for the Disabled — Seymour
St Mary’s Junior Football Netball Club Incorporated
Nagambie Bowls Club Inc.
Pyalong Netball Club Inc
Pyalong Piranhas Swim Club Inc
Broadford Cricket Club
Kilmore Junior Football Club
Central Victorian Ranch Horse Assoc Inc, and
The Victorian Paint Horse Association Inc

The program provides grants of up to $1000 for uniforms and equipment, up to $1500 for resources that improve governance and engagement, up to $5000 for projects to strengthen volunteering and officiating, up to $5000 to deliver a new sport or recreation program and up to $750 to support athlete travel.

The program is backed by the Regional Community Sport Development Fund, which is delivering infrastructure upgrades and other programs, including the Regional Community Sport Infrastructure Fund,  to help more regional Victorians get active and be part of their local sporting club.
