Police have confirmed the woman is Jessie Hatch, from Benalla.
Ms Hatch was walking towards Jolimont Railway Station from the MCG when she was allegedly confronted by a man riding an e-scooter about 11pm.
As she walked away, she was allegedly struck from behind by the e-scooter, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
The e-scooter rider allegedly did not stop and was chased by a passer-by.
Ms Hatch was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 46-year-old Melbourne man was arrested at an address in Thomastown today.
He is assisting police with their inquiries.
Ms Hatch’s son, Ken Bwphantom, spoke in a media conference to say she was out of a neck brace, but was still “pretty bruised and battered”.
“She’s in high spirits ... We’re still waiting on a few things to get cleared.
“They were a bit worried she might have some kidney damage as well.
“Her shoulders are very sore. But she’s in high spirits, which is good.”
