Goulburn River
Campers along the Goulburn River from Goulburn Weir to Shepparton are being warned about the river in this area rising quickly, with VicEmergency issuing a flood advice for the area.
VicEmergency said Goulburn Murray Water was releasing water from the Goulburn Weir, which would result in the river continuing to rise quickly.
However, river levels with the planned releases should stay within the river channel and below the minor flood level.
Campers and visitors close to the river should relocate to higher banks away from the river’s edge and closely monitor conditions over the next few days.
Low-lying access tracks to the river and camping areas may flood and affect moving around the area.
Riverine flooding of roads, towns and homes is not expected during this warning period.
The situation is being monitored closely and further warnings will be issued if conditions change.
What you should do
- If you are camped within the Goulburn River channel, move your camp away from the river's edge and remain alert to the river continuing to rise and that it could rise quickly.
- Be prepared to act if your situation changes.
- Monitor weather forecasts and river levels. Go to bom.gov.au/vic/warnings
A flood watch is still in place for the Goulburn River from Eildon to Seymour.
