New tools for Rochester SES

The new battery-powered rescue tools are an asset to the local team and will ensure members can continue to offer their service efficiently.

However, having enough volunteers to use the tools is equally important.

While Rochester SES currently has 13 operational members, unit controller Tim Williams said there was always room for more.

“We are always on the lookout for more members to join us, not just for road rescue response, but to be part of our team to support the community,” he said.

Fellow volunteer Judith Gledhill said people could get a lot out of the SES.

“Just do it, it’s good fun,” she said.

“There’s so much opportunity for accredited training that you can use in your workplace.

“It’s always a good feeling when you’ve helped someone.”
