The initiative will coincide with National Butterfly Day, observed annually on June 14.
After discovering Victoria is home to about 30 butterfly species, secretary Veronica Groat was inspired to organise the event.
Mrs Groat hopes the day will encourage the community to learn more about these important pollinators.
“Everything’s got a spot. Everything’s important, from the tiniest little thing,” she said.
“(Butterflies) are just fabulous. I’m hoping that... people will come along and learn about them.”
Community members are invited to gather at the river reserve end of Mackay St, Rochester, from 11am to noon, where they will help spread specially selected flower seeds designed to attract butterflies and provide a valuable food source.
Alongside the Landcare members, student volunteers from Echuca Twin Rivers Specialist School will also lend a helping hand.
Participants can enjoy a free barbecue lunch and ice-cream on the day.
The day was made possible with the generous support of the Elmore, Lockington and Rochester Community Bank.
