The Benalla Health Urgent Care Centre is one of the busiest in the Hume region, recording the highest rate of presentations and the lowest transfer rates.
It allows more patients to receive timely care locally, rather than needing to travel far from home.
Over the past year alone, presentations to the Urgent Care Centre have increased by seven per cent, reflecting growing community demand and strong confidence in the service.
Funds raised through this year’s annual appeal will support the purchase of new resuscitation and monitoring equipment, ensuring patients can be assessed and treated more effectively within the centre’s clinical scope.
Urgent Care Centre nurse unit manager Kylie Brown said community support played a direct role in helping staff deliver high-quality care.
“Our Urgent Care Centre is an incredible service, powered by a passionate and highly skilled team who are deeply committed to our community,” Ms Brown said.
“The new resuscitation equipment funded through the annual appeal will help us monitor patients more closely and safely, meaning more people can stay here in Benalla, surrounded by family and support, rather than being transferred away.”
Ms Brown also highlighted the strength of Benalla Health’s nurse practitioner program, including the organisation’s commitment to developing local nurses into nurse practitioners, supporting workforce growth and long-term sustainability.
“Our nurse practitioners are a huge part of why our UCC continues to perform so well,” she said.
“Investing in our people, growing our own nurse practitioners and supporting staff development ensures we can continue providing timely, high-quality care for years to come.
“Benalla Health is deeply proud of its Urgent Care Centre team, whose dedication, expertise and compassion have helped manage increasing presentations while maintaining strong outcomes for patients.”
Every donation made through the annual appeal directly supports this essential community service, helping ensure rural residents can continue to access urgent care close to home when it matters most.
Donations to the 2026 annual appeal can be made online via benallahealth.org.au/MakeaDonation-439 by calling 5761 4222, or by returning the appeal envelope. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.
