The Jazz Supper Club will transform the historic Rushworth Hall back into the age of the speakeasy for an evening of lively yet intimate music on Friday, May 1.

The evening will feature an unforgettable performance by acclaimed jazz artist Fem Belling, along with Picola-based band Broken Creek.
Fem Belling is an award-winning South African-born Australian jazz vocalist and violinist who has also performed as a leading lady in stage musicals in London's West End.
Joined by her brother Zvi Belling on double bass and long-time collaborator Patrick Jaffe on keys, the trio will take the audience on a journey through the golden age of jazz.
“I'm going to be bringing my jazz show to Rushworth, and it is going to be everything from Sinatra to Streisand,” Fem said.
“It is going to be me in a nutshell, you can think everything from old-school jazz to some well-known TV themes.”
Fem's South African heritage significantly influences her music.
“I was born and grew up in South Africa with an Australian mother and a South African father, and that really sets the tone for my music,” she said.
“I grew up during apartheid, so the songs that I grew up listening to were songs of freedom.
“I suppose the soundtrack of freedom.”
Fem plans to perform a special ballad called Lakutshon iLanga, which means 'when the sun sets' in Zulu.
“It reminds me of my father,” she said.
“My father used to be a jazz pianist, and we used to play it together and it is a song that I will definitely be doing, because I think it is perfect as the sun sets in Rushworth.
“We are going to turn Rushworth into a little jazz club for the evening and take everyone on a journey of music.”
Picola duo Broken Creek will support the Jazz Supper Club at the Rushworth Hall on May 1.

Doors will open at 5:30pm, with the live show running from 6pm to 9pm.
Each table seats four, with a maximum of four tickets per booking.
Tickets cost $20 per person and include finger food, with drinks available at bar prices.
The Jazz Supper Club is presented by the Campaspe Shire Council in collaboration with independent producing house Quiet Riot Creative.
Everyone is encouraged to secure their tickets early, as capacity is limited and the event is expected to sell out.
