The Centre, established in 1962 as the state’s first Community College, has a strong record of adapting to meet the needs of individuals, businesses and communities across north-east Victoria.
It has continued to deliver programs and services in Benalla over the years, and the new campus represents an opportunity to once again provide a permanent base in the township.
Previously located near the Benalla Airport, The Centre is now opening a new campus at 157 Bridge St East, Benalla.
The facility includes two training rooms and office space, creating a welcoming hub for education and community support.
The Centre chief executive Sue Geals said the new campus had been made possible through the generous support of the Collier Charitable Fund, whose contribution enabled significant renovations to the site, ensuring a bright, accessible and fit-for-purpose campus.
“The opening of the Benalla campus is an exciting new beginning,” she said.
“For over 60 years, The Centre has been part of the educational and social fabric of the region.
“We are pleased to once again provide a dedicated space in Benalla where people can build skills, confidence and connections that enrich both their lives and their community.
“This new chapter continues the legacy of The Forum and The Centre, which together have long been part of Benalla’s learning and community story.”
From adult literacy and numeracy to vocational training, employment programs and community engagement projects, The Centre continues to focus on creating opportunities that change lives.
Its programs are designed to be accessible and inclusive, supporting people to develop skills, gain confidence and contribute to stronger, more connected communities across the region.
The opening of the Benalla campus reflects an ongoing commitment to the local community and ensures that opportunities for learning and growth are available close to home.
