The Caroline Chisholm Society has helped 380 Goulburn Valley families with essential items since February 2025, as demand for its family support services continues to grow.

At an information session in Shepparton on Wednesday, August 19, volunteer co-ordinator Debra Russell said families were turning to the organisation for clothes, books, toys and other essentials for babies and children.
“If we weren’t here, I don’t know where families would go,” Ms Russell said.
“People come in who don’t have nappies for the next change.”
Caroline Chisholm Society chief executive Lolou Kini said the community’s backing had been crucial.
“It was community support that saved our Shepparton office,” she said.
Ms Kini said the organisation wanted local families to know the service was still operating, providing material aid as well as advice.
“Baby clothes and nappies are really expensive, especially during a cost-of-living crisis,” she said.
“It’s one less thing a parent has to worry about.
“Beyond that, we are also helping equip people to stand on their own two feet.”
With demand for its services continuing to grow, the Goulburn Valley support service is now looking to expand.
