After booking a spot in Sunday's grand final with coach and father John, the Roosters second-rower has earned her maiden England call-up for this year's Rugby League World Cup.
It comes after Strange's brother, Canberra Raiders star Ethan, rejected a call to play for England, holding out hope of selection for the Kangaroos.
The Strange siblings qualify for England through mother Adele and are eligible to represent New Zealand through father John.
Bar a one-season stint at Newcastle and four representative matches for the Maori All Stars, Jasmine has been coached by John either at the Roosters or as part of the extended NSW squad.
But a meeting with England boss Stuart Barrow in Wagga during Magic Round was enough to persuade the 23-year-old.
"I was not sure what to expect at all, but I loved meeting him," Strange told AAP.
"I really connected with him, and I wasn't sure how much he'd watched of me or anything like that, but he knew what he was talking about.
"He instilled a lot of confidence in me, that it's going to be a good decision to go there.
"I would say he was actually one of the driving factors of choosing England."
Two-time premiership player Strange received news of her call-up after the Roosters beat the Raiders to reach their third straight grand final.
"It was so embarrassing," Strange laughed.
"We had all of the fans come for a meet-and-greet after training.
"I was trying to squeal quietly, jumping up and down, and everyone probably thought, 'What the heck is going on?'.
"But I was trying to contain my excitement. I was crying."
Whether Strange will be joined by Ethan at the World Cup remains to be seen.
He has yet to make his Test debut for the Kangaroos but was included in the extended squad for this year's Ashes.
"I haven't told Ethan yet," Strange said of her call-up.
"I don't even know where he is. Ethan's probably fishing somewhere."
Canterbury prop Hope Millard is another potential debutant, having been born in England while her father was playing there.
Other NRLW stars included are Newcastle's Georgia Roche, North Queensland's Fran Goldthorp, and Canberra's Hollie-Mae Dodd.
Wales have also named their squad to contest the tournament held in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
Bulldogs captain Tayla Preston and Cowboys rookie Sian Williams will both don the red jersey.

Relaxed international laws allow players the chance to represent multiple tier-one nations - Australia, New Zealand and England - throughout their career.
Athletes can also take part in State of Origin while representing any nation on the international stage, as long as they meet the other Origin eligibility criteria.
