City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Seema Abdullah encouraged the entire community to support the international event.
“The World Cup event has been held in some of the world’s most iconic cities, and we are excited for Shepparton to join them on the international stage and further cement Greater Shepparton’s position as the major sporting and events destination of regional Australia,” Cr Abdullah said.
“This opportunity to view an Olympic qualifier round with the world’s best BMX riders, is one not to miss - I hope to see many locals and visitors there cheering on our Australian team.”
Tickets can be purchased online and start from $10, with day passes or weekend passes, as well as family passes available.
This event is the first opportunity for Goulburn Valley residents to see the world’s best riders in their own backyard.
The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup will also be one of the final key events where the Australian team can qualify for points before the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, which begin in July.
Around 200 of the best male and female riders from over 30 countries will be participating in the weekend competition.
This landmark event will be hosted at Shepparton’s recently redeveloped international BMX track, which includes Victoria’s first 8 m start hill.
Spectators will be able to get close to the action and enjoy the world class facilities with a range of food and bars from local businesses at the event.
They can also deck themselves out in the leading BMX gear with a range of pro-merchandise stands to browse.
