Benalla Lawn Tennis Club has a new coach in its midst, with Euroa’s Kyle Andrews now offering lessons at the club.
Beginning his coaching career in 2016, Andrews is no stranger to Benalla though, having previously faced the club in the Benalla and District Tennis Association’s Saturday competition.
With restrictions now easing in regional Victoria, Andrews hit the Lawns’ courts last Tuesday with more than 30 young players in a series of free trial lessons juniors.

Andrews said he was excited to get stuck into lessons at Benalla.
“It’s a great opportunity and there is a lot of potential here. The people are really good and it’s a nice club. It’s nice to have so many grass courts here,” Andrews said.
And with summer not too far away, Andrews said it was a good opportunity for people of all ages to start up tennis or return to the courts in what has been a year with very little sport so far.
“I feel very lucky to still be able to play,” he said.
“And it’s a good opportunity for some of the kids as well, especially when they’ve been at home and home-schooled, to actually get out and see their friends in a social environment, while also being physically active.”

Andrews said his coaching style was to make lessons as enjoyable as possible.
“Obviously we want to really focus on technique but trying to do it in the most enjoyable way,” he said.
“We try to have a bit of fun towards the end as well, and just make it an exciting environment.”
● Tennis coaching is available every Tuesday of term four at Benalla Lawn Tennis Club. Phone Kyle to book a lesson on 0405 208 529 or head to Racquet Club Tennis Coaching on Facebook. Coaching is available for juniors and adults.
