The extension came after Morrison, who has played 130 AFL games for the Hawks since being drafted with pick 74 in the 2016 national draft, delivered perhaps his best outing of the season at the weekend, notching 21 disposals, including five score involvements, five intercept possessions, three clearances and a goal in difficult, wet conditions against Carlton.
Hawthorn national recruiting and list manager Mark McKenzie acknowledged Morrison’s importance to the club.
“Harry’s versatility and reliability across his 130-game career should not be understated,” McKenzie said.
“Now in his 10th season at the highest level, Harry’s experience and leadership are qualities that continue to make us better.
“His willingness to take on any role required to help the team win is something that exemplifies the selfless character that he is.
“Importantly, Harry is motivated to keep elevating his game and we are excited to see what he can do for the Hawks into the future.”
Despite a breakout 2025 campaign that saw him play every possible game up until round 22, Morrison failed to feature in September last year as Hawthorn made a preliminary final appearance, having had his season cut short by a quad injury.
While he won his spot back in the side for the opening round of this season, he featured only twice across Hawthorn’s next 14 games before eventually forcing his way into the line-up, playing in each of the past four matches as he looks to cement his spot ahead of what Hawthorn hopes will be yet another deep run into September.
The Hawks currently sit third on the AFL ladder with an 11-5-1 record, half a game ahead of a three-strong chasing pack led by reigning premier Brisbane, with six games remaining before the end of the home-and-away season.
Morrison’s Hawthorn is set to face 17th-placed Richmond this Sunday, July 19 at the MCG.
