Playing in the Under 9s Liga division, the CJSA side claimed one win, one draw and a loss in group play on the Saturday, before braving heavy rain and slippery conditions on the Sunday to advance to the final of the Plate Finals section, beating Fawkner Soccer Club 2-0 in the quarter-final and Williams Landing 2-1 in the semi-final to line up in the decider.
Unfortunately, the CJSA was unable to overcome Avondale FC in the final, going down 2-0, however it was an almighty effort to progress that far in Victoria’s largest junior soccer tournament.
Despite the rain it was an incredible weekend, and many thanks go to coach Adam Gatcum, team Manager and CJSA committee member Olivia Fantig and assistant coach Stephen Marshall for their efforts.
