The Eagles had executed dominant patches throughout their previous games, but coming in had only a nervy win over Tongala in their victory column.
That looked set to change as United put together a powerful first half effort at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
Both sides came out firing and accurate kicking saw seven goals and no behinds kicked in the first term, Echuca United leading four goals to three.
The Eagles kept Rumba in check in the second, kicking three more goals while keeping the opposition to one to lead by three goals at the main break.
The host dropped its level after the interval and Rumbalara surged back into the ascendancy with a strong third term, taking a 53-45 lead into three-quarter time after kicking three unanswered majors in the term.
Rumba surged even further in front with the first goal of the fourth and led by two goals for the first 14 minutes of the final term.
United got back on track with a major to cut the lead to one score and the Eagles would reel off three more down the stretch to secure the four points, 12.6 (78) to 10.5 (65).
Off-season signing Cody Haub continued to prove his worth in front of the sticks, kicking six majors to improve to 16 through four matches.
Jack Reiter provided strong support with four, while Elijah Bruns and Callum Parsons also chipped in.
Improving to 2-2, the Eagles are well-positioned for a raid up the table, with movement still dramatic in the early rounds.
Trailing third place by only one game United will face a stiff test this weekend as one of the early form sides, Numurkah is set to host the Eagles at Numurkah Showgrounds.
