Echuca is the Goulburn Valley League senior football premier for 2026.
A commanding showing over Deakin Reserve hosts Shepparton, the Murray Bombers enjoyed a six-goal last term to win by 81 points, 21.15 (41) to 8.12 (60).
Both the Wilf Cox Medal and AFL Vic Medal went to Echuca co-coach Angus Byrne for his early dominance up forward, while Shepparton’s Luke Smith was named player of the finals series.
In terms of bittersweet, Shepparton co-coach Xavier Stevenson felt the bitter end as Jason Wells announced he will step aside from coaching duties in 2027, while it was sweet success to cap off a long tenure for outgoing Echuca coach Simon Maddox.

The Murray Bombers lead Shepparton 15.11 (101) to 4.12 (36).

Meanwhile, Echuca are well on top in the reserves footy grand final, leading 10.9 (69) to Shepparton’s 2.4 (16).

Shepparton is the under-18 football premier for 2026, defeating Echuca’s 4.19 (43) to 10.13 (73).
Shepparton’s Spencer Sharp and Archer Hueston received respective best-on-ground medals, while Echuca’s Darby Jones was named player of the finals series (Garry Lyon Medal).
Seymour currently leads the B-Reserve netball grand final at half time against Shepparton United 20-10.

We have a tense finish expected here for the thirds football, as after 14 consecutive behinds, the Murray Bombers have kicked two goals in a row, scores 4.16 (40) to 6.11 (47).
Meanwhile, the under-17s netball is complete, and it is a second netball flag for Echuca’s juniors, leading Shepparton 49-42 as the final horn sounds.

The Murray Bombers have the lead at half time of the under-18s grand final after a first half plagued with behinds. A late soccer that was touched as it went through the goals marks the score 2.6 (18) to 2.9 (21) in favour of Echuca.
The second of four Echuca-Shepparton clashes is underway on Court 1, with the 17-and-under girls locked at 11-all at quarter time.
