Hawks beat Redeyes on home courts

While the scoreboard didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the game.

The girls continue to show plenty of fight, determination and willingness to work for each other right until the final whistle.

A huge highlight was having Ash Charlton back in the shooting circle, and what a game she had.

Ash was magnificent, showing great confidence and accuracy under pressure and giving us a real presence in the ring.

She worked incredibly well alongside Steph Barry, with the two combining beautifully throughout the game.

Their movement, patience and ability to find each other made for some fantastic passages of play, and it was brilliant to see them building such a strong combination in the circle.

Steph once again showed just how valuable she is to this team, working hard to create space, taking her opportunities and using her experience to help settle the attack.

Together, Ash and Steph gave us plenty to be excited about and showed that when our attack works together and trusts each other, we can create some really impressive netball.

Across the court, the girls continued to encourage one another and never let the scoreboard dictate their effort.

There were moments of really positive teamwork, with players continuing to put their bodies on the line, chasing every ball and backing each other up.

We know there is still plenty for us to work on, but games like this are all part of building a stronger team.

The girls continue to turn up, continue to fight and continue to improve, and that effort is something to be incredibly proud of.

B-grade: Blighty 32 def by Barooga 70.

The sun shone brightly as our ladies took to the court for their second last game of the season.

With a few players unavailable this week, Emily Harvey and Amelia Hay stepped up from the under-17s and gave their all every minute they were on the court.

We are incredibly grateful for their contribution, enthusiasm and willingness to help out.

Our attacking end combined beautifully, with a number of different combinations taking the court throughout the game.

Sammy Watson celebrated her 100th club game with a fantastic performance, pairing well with Nicole Felmingham.

Nicole showed great determination after a few weeks out due to illness, and it was wonderful to have her back on court.

In defence, despite Barooga's goalers shooting accurately, Georgia Moody and Alex Barry worked tirelessly together, supported well by our wing defenders, to create some important turnovers.

Through the midcourt, Dakini Hall, Amelia and Emily, worked hard all game, providing strong drives and creating options.

A special thank you also goes to Eliza Weir for stepping into the game in the final quarter following some injuries. Her willingness to help out was greatly appreciated.

It was a wonderful team effort from everyone today, and the determination, resilience and support shown by every player was something to be proud of.

C-grade: Blighty 16 def by Barooga 69.

Every week we’re excited to see what our C-grade girls can do, and this week was no exception.

It was a tough day on court, with a very strong and incredibly fast Barooga side proving difficult to stop.

Despite the challenge, our girls worked hard from the first whistle to the last and never gave up.

Rach Bucholtz was sensational, always attacking the ball with speed and determination and never giving up on a contest.

Suzette Van der Berg worked tirelessly in the goal circle but was well defended by Barooga’s strong defensive unit.

Through the midcourt, Ciara D’Aprile, Mikayla Collie and Krystle Winter worked hard all day, linking well together and creating some fantastic passages of play as they transitioned the ball down the court.

In defence, it was a relentless battle against Barooga’s accurate shooters.

Ruby Williams had a superb game, creating numerous turnovers and never giving her opponents an easy possession.

Bec Rourke and Maree ‘Chook’ Watson worked tirelessly, chasing down loose balls and applying constant pressure throughout the game.

Once again, we were fortunate to have two of our wonderful under-17 girls step up.

Izzy Pearn was outstanding, giving 100 per cent every minute she was on the court and doing an incredible job in defence.

Catie Michael also slotted into the midcourt seamlessly and made a valuable contribution to the team.

These girls have been absolutely amazing all season, and we are incredibly grateful for their willingness to step up whenever needed.

Their positive attitudes and commitment to the club are truly appreciated.

C-Reserve: Blighty 8 def by Barooga 52.

It was another beautiful day on our home ground and C-Reserve took on a very strong Barooga side.

The girls went into the game determined to play their own style of netball, and put into practice everything they have learned throughout the season.

They worked hard from the first whistle to the last and never gave up.

They were also commended on their fantastic sportsmanship, which was wonderful to see.

Alena Larmour had a terrific game at GA, working hard to bring the ball down the court and converting some excellent goals.

Sarah Bain showed her versatility by seamlessly switching between WA and WD, while Renee Huckin also demonstrated her flexibility, moving from defence into attack and even stepping up to play Centre.

Our defensive unit of Juliet Barber, Grace Ingram and Carissa Godfrey worked tirelessly against Barooga’s strong attacking end, applying plenty of pressure and doing their best to disrupt their accuracy in the circle.

Through the midcourt, Sarah Nihill and Jess Butcher continued to show just how much they have improved this season, transitioning the ball down the court with confidence and creating some great passages of play.

We always love having Catie Michael join us. After already playing a full game in the under-17s, she came out and made an instant impact in C-Reserve.

We’re incredibly grateful for her willingness to back up each week and contribute so positively to our team.

With just one game remaining this season, we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got while making the most of our final week together.

Under-17s: Blighty 37 def by Barooga 42.

Unfortunately, our girls went down to the Hawks in a well contested game that could have gone either way.

The girls’ game has finally developed, and we are producing some lovely netball.

We will look to continue this in the next game.

Ivy Ball again showed fantastic speed and pressure in WD, keeping her player honest.

Amelia Hay and Kyah Watson worked nicely together in the goal ring. They were just unlucky with some of our shots just bouncing out.

Izzy Pearn and Emily Harvey got some lovely touches on the ball in defence.

Catie Michael had an impactful game while celebrating 100 games.

Next week will be tough as always, but we will give it our best shot.

Under-15s: Blighty 28 def by Barooga 31.

The Blighty under-15s put in a determined performance against Barooga, but fell just short in a closely contested match.

The girls showed great teamwork and resilience throughout the four quarters, matching Barooga for much of the game.

Strong defensive pressure created plenty of turnovers, while the attacking combination worked hard to move the ball smoothly down the court and create scoring opportunities.

Despite trailing late in the match, Blighty never gave up, fighting hard until the final whistle and reducing the margin with some excellent passages of play.

Their effort, commitment, and positive attitude were a credit to the team.

Although the result didn't go Blighty's way this week, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance as the team continues to develop.

Under-13s: Blighty 13 def by Barooga 37.

The team had a fun game against Barooga.

Throwing the girls into positions they don’t usually play, they surprised everyone with how well they took on the challenge.

Selma van der Berg had a great game in her usual defence position, and then also had a spectacular quarter in GS.

Pippa Holden played in defence and also in centre, creating some great plays down the court.

Indi Bain surprised us all with her dominance in centre, after playing in the goal ring all season.

Isla Andrews, who usually plays midcourt, also found herself in GD and GS and gave her all.

It was great to see the girls come together today and support each other playing in new positions.

Well done to the girls for trying new positions that they are not as comfortable in, and for still trying their hardest.

The minis came up against Barooga Hawks for a great game of netball.

Jasmine Da Silva stepped up by applying pressure, bringing the ball down and working hard consistently all game.

Millie Bucholtz and Tia Penrith showed great determination in defence and chased many loose balls to create turnovers.

Lindsey Lankow shot a fantastic goal and worked hard to move around her physical opponent.
