Eleven premiers will be crowned across football and netball at Moama Recreation Reserve, with local hopes Moama, Echuca United and Tongala each with plenty of teams in action.
Stay tuned throughout the day to keep up with the latest scores and winners.
6.30pm- Signing off
That concludes our coverage of the Murray League finals.
It was a great day for Tongala and Echuca United, the Blues picking up four premierships and the Eagles two, but it was a day to forget for Moama with all six Mowers teams missing out... and their facilities catching fire.
6.20pm- Teams in limbo on ground as fire investigation continues
In regards to the fire, The Riv understands kitchen staff reported the presence of smoke and called emergency services to the scene.
Further investigation determined the fire started behind the wall and spread up into the roof.
At 5pm, the grandstand was evacuated while the seniors final was ongoing, and as of 6.20pm, neither side had been allowed back into the locker rooms following the game, instead congregating on the field.
5.15pm- Congupna earn redemption
For the second time in three seasons Congupna is champion of the Murray League, earning its vengeance against last year’s winner Cobram.
In a role reversal from last year’s dismal kicking effort, Congupna was accurate in front of goal, scoring 14.6 (90), while it was Cobram who struggled with accuracy, kicking 11.16 (82).
4.15pm- Fire disrupts resumption of play
A suspected fire in the Moama social rooms has seen the public directed away from the building.
NSW Fire and Rescue are on the scene, attempting to locate the source of the fire which appears to be in the roof and electrical in nature.
Riv journalists, who were in the clubrooms observing the on field action, report smelling smoke as they were asked to exit the building.
Fire department personnel have deployed ladders to access the roof of the building.
NSW police are also on the scene.
Congupna and Cobram appear unfazed by the disruption, and are playing on, although without the electronic scoreboard.
3.44pm- Congupna on a hot streak
In a stark turnaround from last year’s decider, where Congupna had kicked 2.14 at three quarter time, the Road is showing sniper-like accuracy in this year’s final, leading Cobram 8.0 (48) to 5.9 (39) at the half.
3.22pm
The attention for everyone at Moama Recreation Reserve now turns to the senior football decider.
Cobram currently leads Congupna 5.4 (34) to 5.0 (30) in the second quarter.
3.20pm- A Purples premiership
Nathalia has secured a 78-44 win over Tongala in the A-grade netball decider.
The Blues had fared better against the Purples in the regular season, but was no match in the big dance, with Nathalia goaler Jane Cook dominant.
3.01pm- Nathalia premiers in waiting
Nathalia leads Tongala 60-37 at three-quarter time in A-grade netball.
Purples goaler Jane Cook is essentially an automatic basket out there once her teammates get the ball into the front third.
It seems the Blues will have one blemish on their grand final record today.
1.45pm- Tonny successful, Mowers in strife
Tongala secured both games of the block on the netball courts, winning 45-43 in B-grade and 43-34 in C-reserve.
Now attention turns to A-grade as the Blues look to close out a perfect quintet.
Moama is in a dire position in the reserves football and will require a miracle to avoid going 0 for 5 on the day, trailing 60-17 at three-quarter time.
1.26pm- Blues on brink of four titles
Tongala is on the cusp of its third and fourth premierships of the day.
With one quarter to play, the Blues lead 37-30 in B--grade over Mulwala, and 32-27 in C-reserve over Moama.
In more bad news for the Mowers, Congupna have kicked the first goal of the second half in the reserves, now up 36-16.
1.06pm- Tight netball clashes
The remaining lower grade netball clashes hang in the balance at halftime.
In B-grade, Tongala leads Mulwala 24-22, while in C-reserve, Moama and Tonny are locked at 20.
The Mowers have work to do in the reserves football, trailing 30-15 midway through the second period.
12.15pm- More heartbreak for Mowers
For the second year running, Moama has found itself agonisingly short of the under-17s football flag.
The Mowers had a lead in the fourth quarter, but were ultimately run down by finals surprise packet Deni Rams, 9.2 (56) to 7.6 (48).
Moama has dropped all three finals it has competed in so far, with last hopes C-reserve and reserves football, each getting under way shortly.
12.10pm- Eagles, Blues grab more flags
More joy on the netball court for Echuca United and Tongala, at the expense of Moama.
The Eagles survived a late fightback in 15-and-under to win 36-35, while Tongala dominated C-grade in a 52-28 win.
11.41am
Deniliquin Rams have kicked two straight late in the third to seize control of under-17s football by eight points and favourite Moama has work to do if it hopes to claim the flag.
11.37am
Tongala looks to be just a half away from the C-grade premiership, holding a commanding 28-12 lead over Moama at halftime.
Echuca United leads Moama in 15-and-under, while on the footy field, Moama is up a nervous 3.5 (23) t0 3.1 (19) in the under-17s over Deniliquin.
11.05am
Echuca United’s Sophie Bell was awarded best on court as the Eagles won the 13-and-under premiership 35-22 over Cobram.
Tongala wing attack and captain Kenzie Johnstone was awarded best on court for Tongala’s 17-and-under in the win over Moama.
Under-17s football remains in the balance, Moama up 8-7 in the second term.
10.45am
Tongala has upset minor premier Moama in 17-and-under netball.
The game was anyone’s throughout, with the margin under five through three quarters, but the Blues finished the stronger to record the win 47-38.
10.28am
We have our first premier of the day!
Finley have gotten up by just a goal against Echuca United, 8.2 (50) to 6.8 (44).
The Eagles finished strongly, pushing hard for a late comeback but falling just short.
They will rue some missed set-shots early in the final term.
Finley captain Sam Hay took out best on ground honours.
10.05am
Tongala are looking to muster the upset in 17-and-under against Moama, and are in a good position at the main break, ahead 25-21.
After an even first term, the Blues attack converted more often in the second to earn what will be a valuable advantage heading into the second half.
In 13-and-under, Echuca United is well on top of Cobram, leading 26-18 in the third period.
10.01am
Three-quarter time and the Eagles are down by 17 points.
They looked to have turned the game midway through the third before Finley reasserted itself on the contest.
Echuca United will need a big final term to get over the line.
9.43am
Echuca United trails Finley 2.2 (14) to 5.1 (31). The second half has just got underway.
Cats forward Orlando Orsida is having a day out, booting three in the first half.
9.20am
The first action of the day, the under-14s football, is underway here at Moama.
Finley led 7-2 at quarter time, but Echuca United has just taken the lead with its first major early in the second.
The first double bill of action on the netball courts will see Echuca United take on Cobram in 13-and-under, while Tongala and Moama will battle in 17-and-under.
Both games will begin at 9.30am.
