Violet Town 39 defeated by Murchison-Toolamba 44
It was a tough day on the court for Towners A Grade team, coming away with a disappointing loss despite strong effort from the group and a win being in sight until the final minutes.
While the result didn’t go their way, the team spirit remained high throughout the match, with players continuing to support each other and fight for every contest.
There were some promising passages of play, with great ball movement and attacking flow at times. However, it was clear their defensive pressure down the court needs some work, as the opposition found too much space in transition.
When the defensive pressure created turnovers, there was a failure to capitalise often from poor choices when moving back down to the attacking end.
There is still plenty to take away from the match, and the Towners will be hitting training hard this week as they look to bounce back and secure a win next round as they sit 10th on the ladder. The belief is there, and they know what they need to improve on.
Awards went to Maddie Gottschling and Kolby Wild.
B Grade
Violet Town 42 defeated Murchison-Toolamba 25
Towners B Grade produced their best performance of the year to comfortably take the win against Murchison-Toolamba. It was their second win so far and they sit in seventh position.
The defensive pressure throughout the whole court, combined with numerous intercepts and excellent shooting, it was an impressive display to say the least. Every single player gave 100 per cent and if the Towners continue playing like this, they are sure to climb up the ladder. Well done ladies!
Awards went to Lilly Armstrong and Justine Pickham.
C Grade
Violet Town 33 defeated by Murchison-Toolamba 37
C Grade Towners got off to an excellent start, being well in front at the first break. The Hoppers slowly fought back and the Towners lack of fitness, combined with a few careless errors, saw Hoppers steal the win.
While it was a disappointing loss, as the win was there for the Towners to take, the positive news is the Towners are proving they are becoming more and more competitive each week, stronger than they have been in years, and just need to work on delivering their best across all four quarters to get more wins on the board and work their way up the ladder – currently in ninth spot.

C Reserve
Violet Town 29 defeated by Murchison-Toolamba 49
In beautiful conditions Violet Town got off to another great start with some fantastic passages of play down the court, finding the shooters with ease. In the second Murchison-Toolamba got on top and lifted their defensive pressure which forced Violet Town to make some errors, which turned into some fantastic shooting from the Murchison-Toolamba attacking end. Half time the Hoppers had shot away 26 to 12.
Towners fought hard in the second half and didn’t give up, lifting the defensive pressure and made it harder for Hoppers to find their shooters. The Towners finished off the game well and reached their final quarter goal but couldn’t get the win. Well done on a great team effort.

Violet Town 10 defeated by Murchison-Toolamba 62
The Towners had a tough battle against the Hoppers, and the despite the loss there were a lot of positives for the team, having improved from previous games.
Violet Town fought all game, chased loose balls and put plenty of pressure on and created intercept opportunities aplenty.
They managed to get the ball in their shooting ring almost as much as the Hoppers and scored the most goals they have all season, but unfortunately it just wasn’t enough. The Towners are improving week on week and showed their training is paying off.
Awards went to Addison and Viola.

Violet Town 6 defeated by Murchison-Toolamba 35
The under-13s showed great defensive pressure this week, with tips to the ball happening all over the court. Their efforts disrupted the opposition’s play and kept them under constant pressure.
Unfortunately, the team found themselves playing from behind, but they did not give up and kept pushing right to the very end. There's room for improvement, but the positive attitude and encouragement shown by the whole team was fantastic to see.
Plenty to be proud of and lots to build on for next week!
Awards went to Josie and Celeste.

Violet Town 25 defeated Muchison-Toolamba 5
The Towners delivered an outstanding performance at the weekend, coming away with a well-earned 24-5 victory over Murchison-Toolamba. The team showed hunger for the contest, fighting hard for every ball and refusing to back down.
Teamwork was a standout throughout the match, with players linking up beautifully and supporting each other in both attack and defence. Passes were sharp, movement was clever, the best it’s been all season. The gameplay is really starting to click, with smart decision-making and a strong understanding of positions.
What was especially exciting was seeing some of the younger team step up in a big way. Their confidence is clearly growing, and they’re beginning to make a real impact, finding space, and even contributing to the scoreboard. It's fantastic to see the development and enthusiasm in every player.
This was a true team effort, and the energy, spirit, and sportsmanship on display made the whole Violet Town community proud. Keep it up, team - this season is shaping up to be something special!

Under 12s Football
The Towners under-12s football team was back in Shepparton again this week, this time though it was Friday night footy under lights!
Again, the Towners showed just how hard they can tackle and the pressure they can put on their opponents, especially through the midfield. However, Shepp clearly had a bit more class around the ball and were able to move forward a lot faster than the Towners.
Towners will work on getting front position in attack and making sure they have players in front of opposition goal in future games to slow down their opponents.
It was great to hear players calling out each others’ names, support each other and really start to gel as a team.
