Great teamwork was the common theme for round five of the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association competition, with a win and draw showing improvement upon previous weeks.

Under 13s vsEchuca
Rachel makes a fine slap hit to score in the left corner for the under-13s first goal on Saturday.
Every player contributed to an outstanding performance across the field, with lots of running together and strong defence halting Echuca’s runs.
In attack, captain Sophie led the way along with Rachel, with relentless pressure in the attacking circle seeing them both earn themselves a place on the scoreboard.
Hayden and Will worked tirelessly at centre forward, keeping the opposition under pressure and creating opportunities through their movement and teamwork.
Charlee covered plenty of ground, contributing at both ends of the field and drawing players out wide. Her drive and support were a key part of Benalla’s performance.
Midfielder Madeleine was amazing, winning possession, making strong tackles, and helping drive the team forward.
Full back Phoenix completes a tricky tackle in the under-13 clash against Echuca.
Phoenix was composed in defence, breaking up Echuca attacks and providing an option through the midfield when the team transitioned forward.
Goalie Finn again held strong, handling plenty of pressure and making several important saves to keep Echuca to a single goal.
The excellent team effort resulted in a well-deserved 2-1 victory.

Women’s SYC vsStrikers
SYC played a fantastic team game to draw 1-1 against Strikers, with two great runs down the wing by Breanna to pass into the circle, with one scoring and the other unlucky not to.
Heidi Perry made great space as an inner, with some handy forward runs into the circle, in her first game of the season.
Half-back Lee played a great game, with multiple turnovers through the midfield, and two great flat-stick tackled in the circle to halt Strikers forward runs.
Amber played her usual solid game as full back, ensuring multiple runs on goal were turned over well before the circle.
