Seymour was unable to repeat its major semi-final upset and was defeated in the grand final at Tatura by a formidable Shepparton Golf Club.
Shepparton was too strong in two of the three rinks and thoroughly deserved its 18-shot win.
The Seymour bowlers can be proud of their efforts this season in making the decider.
Alison Hall’s rink was down by six shots after the opening two ends and, despite twice reducing the deficit to just a couple of shots by the 10th end, struggled to stay in touch over the latter stages. The final margin was 13 shots.
Max Hammond’s rink won three of the opening four ends before Shepparton Golf won the next six ends for an eight-shot lead.
Seymour was within three shots just before the break, but 12 unanswered shots either side of it sealed its fate. Shepparton went on to win by 20 shots.
The bright spot for Seymour was the performance of Robert Brown’s rink.
It took the lead on the sixth end and, with all members playing some of their best bowls, was too strong for a quality Shepparton outfit. Its winning margin was 15 shots.
