Remembering Sam Neill: A life beyond the screen
Sam Neill leaves behind an extraordinary screen legacy and memories of a thoughtful, humorous man whose life reached far beyond acting.
Beloved NT teacher Sue Paech passed away peacefully in Geelong, surrounded by family. A lifelong educator and devoted single mother, she spent more than six decades teaching, with a gift for deaf and special education. She taught across the NT and beyond, with long tenures at Stuart Park and Wulagi Primary Schools and in remote communities. Her impact on generations of students was profound, and she is remembered with deep affection by former pupils, colleagues and friends. Sue was also a nurse, pilot and visual artist, bringing imagination and care into her classrooms. She was an early education pioneer in Papua New Guinea in the 1970s and a tireless advocate for children who were often overlooked. She faced Alzheimer’s disease with courage and dignity, and is survived by her daughter, Venessa.
