Our dear Renato — a devoted and extraordinary family man whom we loved deeply — leaves us with memories of laughter, warmth and a life lived with a generous and open heart. Renato found his greatest joy in being surrounded by family and friends, nurturing everyone through his beautiful cooking, prepared with love, patience and instinctive generosity. What began as a holiday to Australia became the beginning of an extraordinary life: he met Vicky, fell in love, and together they built a legacy shaped by hard work, courage, laughter and a “can‑do” spirit that never left him. Proud of the family he created and grateful for every blessing, Renato carried his Friulano heritage close to his heart even as Australia became his home.

Renato was never still. He worked with his hands — in the garden, in the kitchen, fixing whatever needed attention — always moving, always helping, always creating. A self‑taught chef and restaurateur, he poured his heart into Colombo’s in Balwyn and Vicky’s in East Kew, welcoming people with food that nourished and comforted. He loved football, loved a chat, and loved to teach, sharing patience and curiosity with everyone around him. Whether feeding a crowd, tending his garden or offering a helping hand, Renato lived with purpose and warmth, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience and the simple, beautiful act of caring for others.

Beloved husband of Vittoria (Vicky), dear father of Paul, Robert and Tania, cherished father‑in‑law of Angela and Louisa, and adored grandfather of Siena, Mia, Sami, Dante, Fred, Vigo and Claudia.

Dear brother of Teresa and Don Amilcare; respected brother‑in‑law of Bruna (dec), Tony (dec), Bruno (dec) and Iolanda (dec), Francesco(dec) and Gloria (dec) Boemo; Uccio (dec) and Yvonne Padovani, Walter (dec) and Carmen (dec) Bonini, and Graziano Degano (dec). Renato was a much‑loved uncle to many nieces and nephews, both in Australia and in Italy, and leaves in sorrow numerous relatives and dear friends, near and far.

Rest in Peace
