Nancy Boyd (nee McIlvride) was born on 22 February 1923 & peacefully passed away in Tweed Heads on 17 July 2026, aged 103. Formerly of Dulguigan, where she lived for more than 70 years, Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Lieutenant Colonel John "Jack" Boyd, former Member for Byron, New South Wales Parliament. Together they dedicated much of their lives to serving their community & helping others.
Nancy was mother to Michael Boyd & Jillian Maher, a much loved grandmother to Vanessa Maher, Andrew Boyd, Leighanne Daniels & Duncan Boyd, & a proud great-grandmother to 13, all of whom brought her joy. She was the youngest of five children (Doris, Effye, James and Jean all deceased) and sister-in-law to Max & Marguerite Boyd, Faith Martin (dec.) & Elieen Constable (dec).
Over her life Nancy was Patron of around 50 community organisations . She gave generously of her time to organisations including the Presbyterian Guild, Legacy, War Widows, Murwillumbah Bowls Club & many community & charitable groups throughout the Tweed. She was always happiest helping others. Following Jack's passing in 1985, Nancy continued to run the family banana and sugar cane farm until 2014, a testament to her resilience, determination and strength.
Nancy was truly one of a kind. Kind, generous and selfless, she dedicated her life to caring for others. Her wisdom, compassion & unwavering love touched countless lives, and in later years she became affectionately known as a second mother to many families who had lost loved ones. She also treasured the friendship & laughter shared with her friends.
Her legacy lives on through her family, her friends & the many people whose lives she enriched through her kindness.
The family would also like to sincerely thank the wonderful team at Stable Home Care for the exceptional care, & compassion they showed Nan over the last few months.
We warmly invite family, friends & all whose lives Nancy touched to join us as we honour her life, share memories and celebrate an extraordinary woman. Please feel free to share this invitation with anyone who knew Nancy.
