The idea formulated by Dominic Fotia of Dominique’s Jewellers was put to Tuckerbox who gave their enthusiastic support. Both businesses will organise and run the auction in the Yarrawonga Town Hall over the March long weekend.
Mr Fotia said there will be an opportunity for the community to donate goods and services for auction.
“Tuckerbox Antiques and Dominique’s Jewellers will not retain any profits from sale of goods, i.e. the sales commission, plus money left over from the buyer’s premium after costs will go to Rotary for distribution,” Mr Fotia said.
This is a great gesture from Tuckerbox Auctions, which is operated by father and sons, John, Brad and Grant Clark. Working from their base in Gundagai, they have specialized in antique and estate sales for more than 40 years and over this time have become highly commended auctioneers.
With a contact list of thousands, they are able to mount full social media as well as traditional media campaigns and can utilise on-line bidding at auction.
Organisers believe at least 500 items could be auctioned with up to $10,000 going to the Bushfire Appeal.
Business houses may wish to make goods or vouchers available to be auctioned.
Similarly, members of the public might like to see some of their little used quality possessions turned into cash for a commendable cause. The full hammer price of donated goods and services will go to the appeal.
Items must be delivered to Yarrawonga Town Hall before 12 noon on Friday, March 6. Pick-up can be arranged if necessary.
All monies raised will be distributed by Rotary District 9790 to those affected by the recent bushfires in the North East and Southern Riverina.
Registration of items for sale, with commission to the appeal or as donations can be made at Dominiques Jewellers, 71 Belmore St, Yarrawonga or by phoning 03 5744 1345 or by email at dominiquesjewellers@gmail.com.
