The pursuit ended in dramatic fashion with the pursued car spinning out and the occupants attempting to run - before being apprehended.
A witness, who asked not to be named, told the Ensign that just prior to the chase ending the car was driving erratically in an area with a lot of school children present.
The pursuit started after police were called to a burglary at an address on Phillipson Street, Wangaratta about 2.10pm.

Various attempts were made to intercept the vehicle through Wangaratta.
The vehicle was monitored with the assistance of Police Airwing and a pursuit was initiated when the vehicle reached Benalla.
The Volkswagen Sedan collided with a police vehicle on Bridge Street, Benalla shortly before 3pm.
No one was injured during the collision and two men and two women were taken into custody.
They are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
