Group chair Stephen Kelly recently sent out this letter to group members and asked to also share it with the town:
Recently two meetings were conducted here in Benalla.
The first called by myself representing BOBCAR, and the second called by Todd Beavis representing the Australian Rail Track Corporation.
Both meetings were harmonious, constructive and informative for all who attended.
At the first BOBCAR meeting a call was considered for the group to form a committee, and to become incorporated.
These options were unanimously rejected.
We are to continue with our present structure, where I, as chairman, will call meetings as required.
The meeting strongly endorsed the present BOBCAR proposals, and the need for a united focus.
A simple administrative change has been implemented to help us remain focused.
We no longer use open-forum electronic media.
The Facebook page previously titled "Bobcar – Give us back our Station" is no longer the voice of the group.
Official statements from BOBCAR will now be placed online at www.bobcar.com.au
The second meeting was a good presentation by Todd from ARTC highlighting design sequences, perimeters, timelines, objectives, budget cost figures and constraints.
Todd did inform us "you will not get what you all want".
An analysis of The BOBCAR design was discussed, and it was stated, by Todd, that it would be presented in November.
The Benalla Rural City Council, Steph Ryan's Office, Helen Haines's Office, The Benalla Ensign, The North East Hotel, some of our local elected representatives, and most fellow BOBCAR members are thanked deeply for their continued support.
With hope, I remain poised for further administrative and diplomatic action, if deemed necessary, to meet current BOBCAR Group objectives.
Thankfully, we as a democracy, vote so as to be given what we want and need.
I am positive for our future in Benalla, and Australia generally.
We can remain focused with kindness and truth to meet the people’s objectives.
We can get what we want, and need, while retaining a sustainable future.
I do look forward to a positive outcome in November.
