Touring around small regional towns, Hall Stories has already taken to halls in Tallygaroopna and Tongala, allowing audiences to laugh at themselves in the best way possible.
As Tallygaroopna hall committee member Lyn Hoffman put it, the community “gained information on some local identities and then presented their achievements in a comical way, that has the audience laughing all night long”.
Dookie, now it’s your turn.
But before Callinan takes the stage, he wants to hear stories from the people who know it best: you.
On Wednesday, July 8, locals with any memories, photos or memorabilia connected to the hall — big, small, funny or heartfelt — are encouraged to drop in to the hall for a meet and greet from 3pm to 4.30pm or 6.30pm to 8pm.
The ‘In Your Town’ series sees Callinan pull back the curtain of his own life on the road and turn his eye to the history, traditions and characters of the Dookie Memorial Hall itself.
His show is built from the very stories that the community shares with him beforehand, and post-show he will record a podcast to help document the hall’s story for good.
Funny, sharp and made entirely from Dookie’s own history, this is a night that celebrates the hall, and the people who have helped keep its stories alive.
Hall Stories at Dookie will be live on Friday, July 10 at 7.30pm
If you are unable to make the meet and greet but have a story to share, get in touch with Riverlinks to ensure it is heard via marketing@riverlinksvenues.com.au or 5832 9865.
