Diesel prices hit $2.98 per litre on Sunday and locals are fed up asking why Yarrawonga residents are paying 20-30c per litre more for fuel than those in surrounding towns.

Ovens Valley MP, Tim McCurdy said families and businesses have had enough and he was taking the lead to bring the community together to tackle the issue head-on.
A public gathering will be held at the skate ramp on the Yarrawonga foreshore on Monday, October 5 at 5pm, to begin forming an action group to address Yarrawonga’s excessive fuel prices head-on.
Mr McCurdy said the focus would be on finding practical solutions and exploring every option available, including the potential for a community-owned fuel station.
“What is happening now is not working for Yarrawonga,” Mr McCurdy said.
“People in Yarrawonga are sick of being slugged at the bowser while cheaper fuel is available just down the road.
“This is not good enough; locals should not have to drive out of town just to get a fair price for fuel.
“Enough is enough; it’s time we came together as a community and took action.
