The unoccupied property was fully alight when firefighters arrived, with Deniliquin assisting crews from Finley and Berrigan, and working for four hours to bring the blaze under control.
The unoccupied house was completely destroyed, but no injuries were reported and neighbouring properties escaped damage.
It is believed the house was abandoned.
Residents described hearing sirens and seeing smoke around 5 am, praising the quick response from emergency services and the support shown by neighbours checking on one another.
Rock’n’Roll night a hit
The Legends of Rock Show brought a full house to the Deni RSL at the weekend, with more than 100 people filling the Dunlop Room for a night of ’50s and ’60s classics.
Joe Piastrino delivered a high‑energy set of rock ’n’ roll favourites, keeping the crowd entertained throughout the evening. Rock and roll dancers were out in force, showing off their moves and quickly taking over the dancefloor as the music kicked in.
It was a lively night of nostalgia, live music and community spirit, adding another successful event to the RSL’s entertainment calendar.
