Benalla Art Gallery’s latest exhibition is celebrating the artistic talents of students from the Rose City and across north-east Victoria.

Fifteen Senior Art and Design students from FCJ College Benalla, Cathedral College Wangaratta, Euroa Secondary College, Mansfield Steiner School, Wangaratta High School, and Yarrawonga P-12 College have 22 artworks on display in this year’s Showcase Exhibition.
The exhibition, which opened on January 26, features the work of 15 young artists.

The exhibition provides students the opportunity for artistic recognition in a public art space and invites visitors to gain insight into the passions and concerns of young artists from schools across the region.
Benalla Art Gallery Director Eric Nash said the exhibition presents impressive works of art and folios.
“It explores concepts including personal and cultural identities, experiences of our natural environment, our relationship with animals, grief, mental health and the emotional landscape.

“(As well as) speculative futures, gun violence, power dynamics and the practical applications of artistic work.
“Each year, we’re really heartened to see large numbers of people from our community visit this exhibition and to hear how they have been inspired by the artists’ creative processes, imaginative ideas and skilful use of materials across a range of media.”
Showcase highlights Benalla Art Gallery’s strong commitment to contemporary art and arts education.
The Gallery will hold a special celebration of the exhibition at 6pm on Friday, February 2, with all members of the community welcome to join.
The exhibition continues until Sunday, February 25.
