Denise Hooper brings a wealth of experience and board president Liz Lloyd said the board was delighted to appoint her to the role, noting her strong alignment with Cooinda’s values.
“We are very pleased to welcome Denise as our new CEO,” Ms Lloyd said.
“She brings more than 13 years of senior leadership experience in aged care, along with a deep understanding of governance, risk management, and quality systems.
“Her appointment reflects the board’s commitment to strong leadership and to ensuring Cooinda continues to provide high-quality person‑centred care.”
Denise is also a registered nurse, giving her a strong clinical foundation that complements her executive leadership background.
Ms Lloyd said this clinical insight was an important factor in the board’s decision.
“Denise’s background as a registered nurse means she understands first-hand the importance of compassionate, resident – focused care,” she said.
“She has a genuine passion for supporting residents and families, while also ensuring staff are well-supported and the organisation remains accountable and sustainable.”
In her role, Denise will provide overall leadership of the organisation, working closely with the board, residents, families, staff, and the broader community to continue strengthening Cooinda’s services.
Ms Lloyd said the board was confident Denise would lead Cooinda with integrity, clarity, and a strong focus on the future.
“We look forward to working in partnership with her as she leads Cooinda into its next phase,” she said.
“Her experience and commitment to excellence make her an excellent fit for Cooinda and our community.”
Denise has already begun engaging with staff and residents and is looking forward to meeting families over the coming months.
