Forecast rain held off until after the women had completed their tough assignment.
Terip included Euroa newcomer Sue Vaughan on her first day of retirement, and she comfortably slotted in with regulars Cindy Hayes, Bec Lyttle and Phoebe McDermid.
Terip’s skill and strength was on full display under the cloudy skies only allowing the visitors a meagre two games for the day.
Conversations in the clubhouse and the car journey kept everyone nourished.
While no-one would have minded a washout, the forecast much-needed rain was timed to perfection for the trip home from that other world of the Strathbogie plateau.
Benalla hosted Moglonemby with the visitors winning five sets to Benalla’s one set despite the partial washout.
Would the potential forecast rain prevent Mansfield Red and Mansfield Blue from battling it out on home courts?
With a 10.30 starting time Mansfield Blue team, Michelle Pigdon, Jill Breadon, Clare Beecham and Sophie Yencken and Mansfield Red players, Karyn Fraser, Deb Mims, Pat Howard and Loretta Armitage took to the courts with fingers crossed.
Fraser and Mims went down to Pigdon and Breadon 6-8 after some hard-fought rallies, while next door Howard and Armitage stayed neck a neck with Beecham and Yencken until 4-4 when Beecham and Yencken took their game up a notch to take out the set 8-4.
Yencken did a great recovery after landing on the ground to bounce back up on her feet with an "I'm okay" to continue to be part of the point.
Mansfield Blue was too strong for Mansfield Red on the day with Red's Fraser and Armitage winning Red's only set for the day.
The last set was completed in light rain and once everyone had retired to the clubhouse forafternoon tea it came down with force.
All players were grateful that they managed to get their day of tennis in.
Next week sees all three Mansfield teams on home ground with Black and Red against each other and Blue hosting Mognolemby.
The draw for the women’s winter competition can be found on the Mansfield Tennis Association’s website: play.tennis.com.au/mansfieldtennisassociation under Competitions/Euroa winter.
