The Suns welcomed the Echuca-Moama United Emus to the Benalla Showgrounds and were quick to settle into the home ground.
Boosted by the addition of some new faces the Suns would go into the first break two goals up.
Rick Willett was working hard in the ruck giving the Suns plenty of opportunities with the ball.
Inaccuracy in the second saw the Suns kick just the one major, despite this the backline worked well limiting the Emus ability to score and going into the main break the Suns three-goal lead.
The Emus came out after the main break and were matching it with the Suns providing a much more even quarter with the game still in the balance.
The Emus were unable to pull back the three-goal lead and were going to need a big last quarter to defeat the Suns.
A dominant final quarter saw the Suns controlling most of the play, but once again the Suns would struggle with inaccuracy.
However, it didn’t matter as the Suns ran away comfortable winners in the end.
The Suns would like to thank the Benalla Saints Women’s Football Team for allowing them to play before them and provide a local football double header.
