Seniors got off to a fast start with great clearances from our on ballers, giving our forwards plenty of opportunity which saw Jordan Wolff capitalise early. Coach Jamie Dunne praised his boys at quarter time, saying that their training was paying off and they were moving the ball exactly as trained.
Aaron Blackburn was electric up forward booting six goals, and Brayden Stepien also had a blinder with three celebrated majors. Back six were solid all day with Alex Moloney playing a standout game in a fantastic team effort.

Reserves
We travelled to Bonnie Doon and it was a top day for footy, starting with our reserves. We didn’t get the win but it was a great game.
Bats started slow in the first quarter but after the quarter-time break came out with a lot more attack and pressure, making it hard for Doon to hit the score board. Jack Trevena was again dangerous around the goals booting four for the day. Will Cheshire put a goal to his name whilst also playing a stand out game in the ruck.
Both Jeremy Hill and Jeremy Sloan were fantastic down back and time and time again intercepted Doon’s attack. Whilst going down to a stronger Doon by 60 points, Bats were proud of their little wins.

Netball
A Grade
A grade this week faced a strong Bonnie Doon side, with the game tightly contested across the first three quarters. We found ourselves down by four at both quarter time and half time, before working hard to level the scores at three quarter time.
The girls showed great determination and fight to stay in the contest, but a combination of a few coaching errors and a lack of fitness at crucial stages saw Bonnie Doon pull away in the final quarter.
Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the game against quality opposition, with the group showing resilience and competitiveness throughout.
A huge congratulations also, to club stalwart Kylie Relf on her 300-game milestone achievement for Goorambat.

B Grade
Another tough day on the court for Bats B grade, coming up against reigning premier Bonnie Doon. The girls put up a courageous fight, with great pressure in defence and court flow through mid court, into the goalers. Unfortunately we went down by three goals, but the girls should proud of their efforts and their determination throughout the game.

B Reserve
Despite the scoreboard, Goorambat showed patches of determination and effort throughout the match. Bonnie Doon proved consistent across all four quarters, capitalising on turnovers and maintaining strong pressure to steadily build their lead.
Goorambat continued to work hard, with passages of play showing promise as they looked to move the ball down the court and create scoring opportunities. The team’s resilience and willingness to keep pushing was evident right to the final whistle.
Best on court honours went to Chelsea Cole, who worked tirelessly across the game and provided strong leadership and drive. Bri Putt earned second best for her consistent effort and impact, while Grace Handley rounded out the best players with a solid performance.
Goorambat will look to take the positives from the game as they continue to build and improve in the weeks ahead.

Under 15s
This week the under-15s faced a tough challenge against Bonnie Doon, but despite the scoreboard, the Bats showed their resilience and determination throughout the match.
Emma Hall worked hard in attack, making effective front cuts to provide strong options for her teammates and showing reliable hands on the ball. In defence, Tilly DeFazio played a determined game, creating turnovers and applying pressure to slow down Bonnie Doon’s pace, while also keeping communication strong across the court. Evie Ellis was consistent in defence, reading the play well and positioning herself effectively to offer a steady reset for the attacking end.
While it was a challenging game, the team showed effort across all four quarters and will be taking plenty from the match into training to continue building on their skills and teamwork.
